Default Plain text "Note" documents in briefcase

Sometimes it is useful to be able to share documents that are kept in plain text format, typically with a fixed width font.

For example, very simple documents of this type can always be safely copied and pasted into plaint text emails and other plain text locations, with predictable results.

Is there a way to achieve this using the Zimbra documents/briefcase system?

I can change all the fonts to Courier New, and fix the font size at 12, but (with Zimbra Desktop 2) I still get paragraph-breaking issues, and cases of the font reverting to the default variable width font at a different size.

Is there a way to change the default font style for a document?

I suggest adding a new type of item that can be stored in the briefcase: Note.

"Note" would work like "Document" except it is plain text; no formatting is possible.

Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for: Bug 14343 – documents : ASCII edit mode

I think that there are plans to merge Notebook & Briefcase, so the above RFE might indirectly address your needs. But it wouldn't hurt to open a new RFE and post the number here.

Thanks, that is definitely related.

I added Bug 51564 – New plain text "Note" document type in briefcase.
