Compose window with less than full width of screen

The "Reading Pane on Right" option makes it possible to comfortably read email using Zimbra on a typical wide screen display.

Could we add a corresponding option to make it possible comfortably write email on a wide screen display?

When I compose a new email, the resulting text box is 214 characters wide (at fixed width font). It's too many to comfortably read and hence write.

Obvious option: Add a preference to allow the user to control the width of the compose text box.

Interesting other option: Add a preference allowing users to compose emails in the reading pane area. With the same widths etc.
