Question AJAX UI notification sound requires quicktime/WM plugin

Hi everyone

This is something that I've been meaning to ask for a while.
To be able to hear notification sounds in the AJAX UI, you need to have Quicktime or Windows Media plugins enabled in your browser.

However would it not be an easier and more consistent solution to have the sound in a small Flash file?
I would suggest that more people have Flash enabled in their browsers than both Quicktime/WM combined.
Also would it be easier for the developers to support Flash rather than 2 different plugins?

Now I hate Flash and would be delighted if all Adobe software got violently destroyed by fire. However I hate the Flash format slightly less than Quicktime/WM. The main reason I hate Flash slightly less is that it's pretty much everywhere for multimedia these days, until HTML 5 kicks off.

Just a suggestion/question really

Cheers, B

If you feel like it, go add votes and comments over here Bug 42019 – Play audio notifications through html5 rather than Quicktime/WM

I created that bug since I feel just like you do, but I dont consider Flash an alternative either...

I feel Flash is marginally better than Quicktime/WM but totally agree, HTML5 is the way forward.
Shame the standard seems to be taking so long to get ratified.
I'll vote on this in the meantime and see what happens

Cheers, B
