You should use IMAP.

I need to download my mails as the account needs to be deleted.
Imap has mails on the zimbra server as well isnt it? and mails are not downlaoded as only the headers. So once the account is deleted all my mails will go , i dont want that to happen

Then I'll say it again, use IMAP.

I am sorry if i am doing any mistakes. When i delete mails from webclient, those mails are deleted when checking IMAP. Inthis case if my account is deleted all my mails will be lost.

Of course they are deleted when you sue the Web UI, that's what a delete does and the Web UI has nothing to do with IMAP.

You need to use a client that uses IMAP (Thunderbird, Outlook or any of the other email clients available), it will download a copy of all the email to the client and I thought that was what you wanted, what more do you need?

Of course they're in 'both places', where they are really located is on the server in your mailbox.

Of course that will happen if you connect a client to the Zimbra server, the answer would be to not delete email via the web client.

I don't understand what you want to do. You have a copy of your email in the Outlook client, that will stay there in the .pst file if you don't connect it to the Zimbra server, when your account is deleted you will still have a copy of the email in Outlook. I'll ask again, isn't that what you wanted?
