Default External account does not use "From" field correctly

Hi,

I have added an external account with "From" field configured as the external email address.

When I send an email (selecting this account instead of primary account), the primary account is still used

Example (primary account is alexandre@domain.local, used internally only)

Apr 19 15:23:07 rhel5dev-zimbra postfix/qmgr[28951]: 7EAEDCEB88: from=<alexandre@domain.local>, size=699, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Apr 19 15:23:08 rhel5dev-zimbra postfix/smtp[511]: 7EAEDCEB88: to=<###@####>, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024, delay=0.61, delays=0.04/0.01/0.01/0.55, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 Ok, id=15159-09, from MTA([127.0.0.1]:10025): 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 0D9AFCEB89)

What can I do to make it use the external address for sending emails, not only appear to use in a mail reader ?

Regards,
Alexandre

Welcome to the forums

I believe this may have been corrected in the latest release; 6.0.6.

I have upgraded to 6.0.6. The account is now selectable in the "from" field of the compose window which is indeed an improvement but the emails are still sent using the primary account address :

Apr 19 18:10:21 rhel5dev-zimbra postfix/qmgr[5943]: C8137CEA6C: from=<alexandre@domain.local>, size=1074, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
pr 19 18:10:21 rhel5dev-zimbra postfix/smtp[21047]: 58D3ECEA33: to=<####@#####>, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024, delay=0.51, delays=0.05/0/0.02/0.43, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 Ok, id=20339-01, from MTA([127.0.0.1]:10025): 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as C8137CEA6C)

Thanks,
Alexandre

Any idea how to troubleshoot this issue any further ? I have seen some other threads with similar problem with personas so I think it's confirmed.

PS. I realize this thread might have been better in the Administration section rather that Installation, not sure it can be moved.

I have alost the exact same problem - server was just upgraded to 6.0.6 due to the issue with clamd updates.

Now user emails are using the primary account information for the RCPT field - not the info stored in the prefs/Account information/Primary or external account.

Currently the server is deferring mail to hosts that reject the mail from non verifyable hosts.

Example:
User - abc
(abc@domain.com is an alias for user@city.domain.com)
Primary account: abc@city.domain.com
Mail From set to abc@domain.com ( account prefs)
Reply set to abc@domain.com (account prefs)

External account: abc@domain.com
Mail From set to abc@domain.com ( account prefs)
Reply set to abc@domain.com (account prefs)

MY Server show the following for the inbound msg:
Apr 21 18:29:35 mail postfix/smtpd[13053]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from 66-255.255-198.ds1-static.mia1.net:
450 4.1.8 <abc@delray.domain.com>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found; from=<abc@delray.domain.com> to=<bobm@windward-dev.com> proto=ESMTP helo=<mail2.metromotorgroup.com>

what get me is the I check the Sent folder and check the original message and I get:
Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2010 18:23:45 -0500 (GMT-05:00)
From: Scott <abc@domain.com>
Reply-To: Scott <abc@domain.com>
To: solenski <abc@domain.com>,
Bob Masterson <bobm@windward-dev.com>

Any THoughts???

I'm facing the same problem: I have one zimbra account, myaccount@myfirstdomain.com which has an external account configured myexternalaccount@myexternaldomain.com.
I need zimbra to relay mails sent by myaccount@myfirstdomain.com to the ISP's MTA (configured as postfix's relayhost) and the one sent by myexternalaccount@myexternaldomain.com to be relayed through another MTA (configured as sender_dependent_relayhost_maps in postfix's main.cf).
Unfortunately the mechanism does not work because if a login as myaccount@myfirstdomain.com and I send an email as myexternalaccount@myexternaldomain.com, the message has still the from field containing myaccount@myfirstdomain.com so it will be sent through the default relay host.
Could someone explain me why I get this strange behaviour?

Default Same problem external accounts

If I try to send a mail using my external account, zimbra send it using my first account, which is an internal account, so I have a wrong answer from the server:
"The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. 550 Sender verify failed (in reply to RCPT TO command)"
Any help please!!?
