Default Paste to Internet Explorer oddity

I've seen copy/paste bugs, but this one seems to since 6.0.5. In Internet Explorer 8 (haven't tested 6 or 7), I have to paste twice for the data to show up when using ctrl-v. Right click and paste works fine. When using the shortcut ctrl-v, the cursor moves, but no data shows. The second ctrl-v displays the copied data. This doesn't seem to be happening on Chrome or Firefox 3.6, and it happens in WinXP, Vista, and 7 with IE8 at least. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I just noticed this today myself with the added symptom detailed below. We upgraded from 5.0.20 to 6.0.5 about two weeks ago, so I strongly suspect this started after the upgrade; otherwise, someone would have reported it earlier. The symptoms occurs with IE (8.0.6001.18702). Firefox works fine.

1. Compose a message
2. Type some text
3. Press CTl+C to copy text to clipboard
4. Position cursor to desired spot
5. Press Ctl+V to paste text
6. Instead of pasting the text, the cursor moves to the Home position. No text is pasted. Press Ctl+V again, still no paste.

However, if I copy some text from another application and attempt to paste into the compose message window, the cursor moves to the Home position, and does not paste any text. I press Ctl+V a second time, and the text is now pasted. But it will only paste into the Home position. I cannot paste it anywhere else within the compose window.

I am having very similar problems. I posted about a month ago, but didn't have anyone one else say they saw the problem. Try the scenario in my post and see if you have the same issues.

Internet Explorer unable to copy from Reply, Forward, or New Message in HTML format

I'm pretty sure you are all running into bug 42010. Hopefully fixed soon (maybe next release -- 6.0.6)

BTW, if you switch to Text compose mode I think you will find things work OK.
