Default M2 Review

Finally got M2 installed. General reaction is very positive. Zimbra "feels" much more solid with the new CSS skinning system. I have not yet played with it to figure out how much expandability there is in the CSS system (all of the themese appear to just be recolors - and I suspect that the overall structure of the Javascript layout system would prevent too much customization.

More specific feedback:
- The key bindings rock. It makes this accessable to the most selective of users, thoose who still use pine and mutt.
- Is there any way to force the main screen to have the initial focus when the application starts? It's a bit jarring to try and have to hit the mouse before hitting keys to select message.
- Likewise when I select respond to a message, can the initial focus not be set to the search window? I would like to just start typing in the text area.
- The position of the calendar is perfect. It allows for a extremly fluid and easy transition to the calendar from the mail screen.
- The speed change without images in the background is awesome.

More as I hit it.

Thanks! There are still a few rough spots in the keyboard nav but it's getting there. Please file any issues you find in bugzilla so we can try to get them fixed for the GA.

Kevin's right, there's still a good amount of work to do on keyboard nav. If you file a bug in Bugzilla, please prefix it with "KBNav:" or add that as a keyword, that way I can find it quickly.

The plan is to have focus go to something useful any time you switch views. For a compose-type view, that'll be the first input field. There are still some views that don't have focus mgmt. In the short term, I'm working on focus issues. Later, we'll give the user the ability to customize key bindings.

I updated my ticket to include KBnav. It should help you track it down. I think the problem here is that it is going to the first input field, which happens to be the search text field rather then the compose or even recepient field.
