Default Multiple Identities not working correctly

Hi!

I just created some identities (one@xyz.com, two@xyz.com) for an account (zero@otherdomain.com). I configured all relevant parameters for the 2 new identities (like use in response to, for certain folders, set reply-to, ... pretty everything available).

When I send an email using the webfrontend from one of the @xyz domains, the name of the sender is taken from the identity, but the sender address still is my @otherdomain!

All domains are set up, incoming mails are routed according to the installed aliases, just sending does not change the address. Is this a (known) bug or am I missing some important setting?

+lg
Martin

PS: We have Zimbra 6.0.4 installed

I believe you can choose the reply-to and receipt-to, but you can only use 'from' addresses that are yours. If you've setup aliases for those other addresses for the 'zero' account then you can pick those when setting up the personae for 'one' and 'two'

We experience the same problems - even with the newest zimbra release.
When sending as another identity, the receiver often gets the mail from the "main" mail address.

This happens with zimbra 6.0.X (6.0.5 at the moment / Centos 5.4).

On our Zimbra 5 boxes we "only" experience that issue when replying to mails which was sent to an "identity" via zcs web frontend.

Then the recipient sees in the mail header: "this mail was sent in behalf of 'identity@domain.com'" but the sender written in the FROM Tag is the default mail address of the account.

Can anybody else confirm that issue?

Thanks,
Thomas

@jonallport : no, actually this feature worked properly in 6.0.1 : any alias I have configured (as admin, for the user) is available as 'from' address for other identities. now it works half, takes the identities name, but not the given address.

@twickle : as mentioned above: it worked in 6.0.1, so it seems to be a recently introduced bug

Default hi, happens to me also

Hi, I can confirm this behavior for 6.0.5 OS edition.

Never used the feature before so I can not confirm that it worked before.

My setup is:

main identity (name@domain)
add. identity (info@domain)

account name@domain has admin rights for shared mailbox info@domain
the info@domain identity is set up to be used automatically for the shared folder info@domain

COS etc. is configured properly to allow other identity email addresses.

If we reply from the shared info-folder, the recipient recieves the message with:

from name@domain
on behalf of info@domain

We really want to have it to appear only from info@domain!

Did one of you guys filled an bug-request?
best

Default Hah!

Ok, so I nailed it down to the following:

There is a checkbox when sending which is checked by default and says: "Send on behalf of name@domain?"

If I DEACTIVATE this checkbox, it'l get send from info@domain!
If it is ACTIVE, it'l get send from name@domain with onbehalf of info@domain!

So, is it possible to deactivate this checkbox per default?

Default Filed a couple of bugs against identities, ...

... would be nice if some folks would also vote for them to get some more attention:

Bug: Can not request read-receipt
Bug 46382 – When sending mail from another Identity, I can not request a read-receipt

RFE: Make "Sent on behalf" configurable
Bug 46383 – Make the checkbox configurable for "Sent on behalf of"

RFE: Make an option for "Store sent mail in folder X" for mailing on behalf of another mailbox
Make an option for "Store sent mail in folder X" for mailing on behalf of another mailbox

best,
Ray

Unhappy basic persona setup working?

can anyone confirm that personas are actually working in the minimum setup, so sending from a different name+email? (and let me know what to turn on/off, since all solutions presented so far do not work)

If we could have this working it would solve lots of time in support ...

regards!
