Default Blackberry support?

Will Zimbra support Over the Air Wireless sync for Blackberry? If it does, I may actually move away from POP3. I would not get Exchange server just to use Blackberry Desktop Redirector.

TIA.

Chris

The Blackberry desktop redirector should work with the zimbra mapi provider.

Default answer<=>question correct?

Hello,

This is my first post in this forum. Zimbra seems very, very interesting in a broad line of aspects.. Keep up the good work!

To this question and answer: Main element in over the air syncing of a blackberry is the Blackberry server. This must connect to an existing mailtransport as momentarily Lotus Domino or MsExchange. Having established this it is possible for a company to deploy Blackberries without any local desktop application or what so ever. The issue adressed in the question seems to be: 'is a connection to any form of blackberry-server under construction or will there only be a connection via mapi and local desktop to sync (indirectly) over the air?

Or: local sync does not seem to be a workable solution for corporate usage of blackberries in combination with Zimbra?

Please correct me if i see this wrong, would open some new perspectives, otherwise please complement the answer in direction of the added elements?

Thnx in advance!
Peter

The Zimbra mapi provider will enable both the blackberry desktop redirector and the blackberry enterprise server to function with a Zimbra backend.

Hello Sam,

Thnx 4 the quick reply. Does this imply that Connection to a BES-server could be established right now on the current public version?
If so is there any information available on that topic as I haven't yet found any? (which doesn't mean it's not available.. )

regards,
Peter

No. The current version does not support blackberry. The Network bits will be required.
