Directory integration

Hey,

I know this has been brought up in other forums and I understand that it is not currently possible. However, going forward is there any intent to allow Zimbra to tie in to Active Directory or Open Directroy?


the product is fantastic but from an administrative standpoint being able to manage one set of user accounts would be much nicer.

I am in an Apple open Directory environment and there are only a few options as relates to colaboratino servers. We are looking at Kerio/Entourage as well as Zimbra.

Anyhoooo I am just curious about whether future releases might have the sort of integratino you see with exchange/AD. Zimbra with that sort of integration would be even more compelling as an Exchange replacement.

We integrate with AD today for both LDAP GAL lookups and for auth.

My Understanding is that a separate user has to be maintained in side of zimbra but that authentication can be made through AD or LDAP. If I am wrong let me know. I would like to not have to create the separate user.

This is secondary for me right now.

I am having trouble seting up external ldap, but I will go post in the intallation forum.

I have everything working that is critical now. External Gal is broke but I do not need it.

It sure would be nice if Zimbra could go out and retrieve the list of suers from the external LDAP server. Kerio does this and makes it easy to keep the mail and directory accunts in synch.

Just a thought. Otherwise I love it.

As long as we are wishing..:-) how about an Entourage connector that allows all of the exchangish colaboration features (shared calendars and the like). I am going to have a number of users that will have to be shanghaied (sp?) away from that client.

I think there already is an auto-LDAP copy in bugzilla. If you can't find it feel free to file a new bug.

We have some Entrourage support with the iSync connector. Have you tried that?
