Default Run filter does nothing if filter is not marked active (Zimbra 6.04)

Hi,

I have noticed that "run filter" doesn't actually do anything unless the filter selected is marked "active"

I was planning to use the new "run filter" feature to periodically clean up , or move messages to archive folders based on date. These are typically rules that I don't want to have "active" during normal use, since there is a large potential for trouble.

Shouldnt the "run filter" option ignore the "active" flag ? The fact that I select a filter and press "run filter" kind of indicates that i want it to RUN, and not silently do nothing..

At the very least it should tell you to mark the filter active before trying to execute it.

Regards

Jeroen

Why should it ignore the flag? You've obviously marked the filter inactive for a reason and it doesn't make sense to run filters that are marked inactive unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious here.

Simple,

I want to run a filter, that only works when I explicitly tell it to run, and on what folders it should run on,

I don't want it firing off for any other reason, except if I tell it to run using "run filter"

Does that make sense to you ?

Well maybe it's time to head to bugzilla and file an RFE or bug report.

Makes sense to me, but if that's not how the documentation says it should work, then I agree you ought to file an RFE. Please post the bug # here, if you do.
