Default How to schedule a saved search to run periodically

I am trying to mimic the Unread Mail folder in outlook. I have saved a search, "is:unread" which works great at displaying all the unread messages in all folders. What is missing is a way to have that auto run periodically, or better still, run when ever new mail is received in any folder or configured external account so that it always reflects the number of unread messages and displays them when selected.

Saved searches are executed when you click them so the concept of refreshing them doesn't really exist. Unread count will not be displayed because it is a search.
