Default ZCS 6. Is it possible to redirect a message?

Hi, I want to redirect, not forward, a message but I can't find how. The touraround is open the message as new and change the "To" header.
Is there another way? Thanks.

It will redirect the message if you set up a Filter rule to forward it to another address; otherwise it will not do that. You will have to count on your email client to be able to do it for you (or make a Zimlet for yourself that will do it)

Thanks Krishopper but I don't want to redirect all messages to a new address. I want, in the client, redirect one particular message to a specific address, any time different.

Both Thunderbird and Evolution have the ability to redirect individual messages. We use this feature quite a bit to redirect requests for support that come to our Inboxes that should be going to our ticketing system address. This allows the ticket to be created with the correct owner. If I forward the email, then I am the owner. If anyone has created their own zimlet to forward as redirect, please share.

Re-direct would be a nice feature, both in the interactive UI but also at filter level (since the FORWARD filter action is broken in 6.0.5+)

Yes Joho,

This is exactly what I'm looking for a workaround for. Server side filtering forwards used to redirect, but now they forward and my users are complaining.

The Junk and Not Junk buttons use redirect to put emails in the designated ham and spam mailboxes (so the original sender gets flagged, not the user pressing the button!), so there is redirect code already in Zimbra.

Since the underlying code and a UI already exists for doing redirects, if you wanted to hack your Zimbra you could use what is there as a model for your own use.

FWIW, in our experience very, very few ordinary users understand the true difference between "forward" and "redirect", so it is not surprising to me that Zimbra hasn't created a UI for ordinary users to do redirects.

But there is no reason why you can't file an RFE (Request for Enhancement) in Bugzilla -- after please checking that someone else hasn't already created one!

I've filed a bug for my problem I didn't see any duplicates in bugzilla. I'm calling it a regression and not an RFE because I have users who lost functionality in the upgrade.

Bug 46422 – Change of Behavior of Server Side Email Fowarding, was Re-Direct, now is Forward.

Lets see what happens.

That was marked as a duplicate of bug 45851 and is targeted for the next release of Zimbra.
