Good point. That may very well be the problem. It would be nice if we could open them in Briefcase, work on them and save them, but that may not be possible yet. I was trying to find the best way to share the commonly used documents in our organization. Downloading and uploading is too cumbersome.

I have no problem sending it to you, but I want to check first to see if Mike Scholes response was in fact the answer. Was it likely the reason for our problem because we are trying to open and change the docs in Briefcase without downloading it?

6.0.3 is the version of Zimbra ZCS.

The only way opening it in excel and saving directly to the briefcase could possibly work is if you mounted the briefcase as a WebDAV folder on your computer and opened it from there.

When you open the file from the web interface you are simply downloading a copy to the temp folder on your computer and by default Excel marks this as read only. You can save a local copy and re-upload, but what you originally ask is not possible the way you are trying to do it.
