I get the feeling I'm beind a bit dense here, but I dont understand something.

When I make a zimbra user, I create the email address and add info such as the full name and more details, but how do the users see this?

When a user clicks the contacts button, they see their own contacts, which because they are new, is empty. How can a user view the details of the other users?

In the composer click on the 'To:' then do a search on something to get the matches. In a future release we plan to create a virtual folder in the contacts app to expose the GAL.

Thanks, the way you mention is the way I'd found, would it be possible to make that search button work on a null search?

I mean, click 'To' and press seach will show all user accounts in the left pane, rather than type a single letter or something and then pressing search. I know it's only a minor thing, but perhaps it's only a small change to make, perhaps it's something we could modify ourselves?

The ability to view the user accounts in the address books will be most welcome when it arrives, you just dont know how many times people in our company say "I'll email the file to you, what's your email address?" even to people who've worked here for years!

Use "." today for a null search. We'll provide a way to browse the GAL and a *real* null search in a future release. Some of this we plan to have in the next major release.

Those future GAL features - will they work from Zimbra UI only, or from Outlook too? I mean something like a auto "null search" and display of the whole list when user clicks "To" button. I know this is mostly LDAP issue, but what if?

Outlook already has this as is sync's the GAL for offline use. The actual way Outlook interacts with the GAL is not something we can control.
