Default Using SMTP or LMTP?

I have two servers running, one for email with zimbra and one as fileserver with samba.
On the fileserver is postfix install and send systemmails (cron, etc.) to the zimbra server.
This works with SMTP, how can i setup zimbra and postfix to work with LMTP?
What is with amavis virusscan and spamchecking when i use LMTP?

Or it's useless?

Cu

If you send in via LMTP you lose virsu scanning, spam scanning, and distribution lists, and queuing. It's best to just use SMTP.
