Default [SOLVED] meetings created in iCal 3 CalDAV don't generate invitations

This was working fine on my ZCS 5.0.12 (Mac OS 10.4) demo install. Now I'm trying to get a production setup going with ZCS 5.0.16 RHEL. But when I create a meeting in iCal 3, the meeting shows up in ZCS but the attendees aren't notified. Doesn't matter if they're also on ZCS or external.

Works fine if the meeting is created within the Web Client or using ZCO.

Anybody else ever see this?

Your MacOS Address Book "Me" card should match your production email address and a configured MacOS Mail account.

Yup, checked both of those, thanks.

Further testing on my part suggests that the problem only occurs under Mac OS X 10.5.7. When I tried under 10.5.6, things were fine. Also, the problem only happens with meetings created on a CalDAV (Zimbra) calendar, not with ones created on a local calendar. So that pretty much rules out my Address Book setting.

I've also found that on some machines, initial notifications (invitations) are (sometimes?) sent. But updates, e.g. if the meeting is moved, are not sent.

Whenever a notification/update fails to be sent, a message like the following appears in the Mac console
Quote:
6/11/09 9:48:38 PM iCal[2053]
[CalDAVScheduleEventQueueableOperation performHeaderComplete] etag conflict for BED21E7A-3927-4FF4-AA31-4C675E44467F (client etag="2500-2497"; server etag=(null)). skip schedule operation
I found these two items in bugzilla, not sure if they're related somehow to my problem:

Bug 30786 - CalDAV GET requests return no ETag (marked FIXED)
Bug 31168 - No calendar-query REPORT support on CalDAV schedule-inbox and schedule-outbox (still open)

EDIT: I doubt it's relevant, but the account is in a domain within Zimbra, with a virtual host. Server name is zimbra.mprinc.com; domain is mprinc.com with virtual host zimbra.mprinc.com. The only thing that's "off" about the config, to my knowledge, is that I haven't yet set zimbra.mprinc.com as the mx for mprinc.com.

Default Same problem here

This happened suddenly to me, but other colleagues with the same OS versions, etc. are not experiencing this.

I have deleted all sync services preferences and all Zimbra connector files and reinstalled several times and I still have this eTag conflict.

Also, I am receiving these messages:
6/16/09 8:53:57 AM iCal[311] [CalCalDAVCalendarSource entityFromData:] invalid ics file!
6/16/09 8:53:59 AM iCal[311] Calendaring data empty
6/16/09 8:53:59 AM iCal[311] CaliTIPMessage: iTIP Message contained no events

Possibly these errors are related and may help in getting this solved.

Thanks,

Chad

Support identified my problem as Bug 38112 - Creating appointments in iCal does not send the invite

It's fixed in 5.0.17. Comments in the bugzilla entry agree with my observation that the bug is associated with Leopard 10.5.7, so if someone can't wait until the update, I guess they'll have to downgrade their Mac using Archive & Install. Fortunately I was able to warn most of my users in time to hold off the upgrade.

anyone upgraded to 5.0.18 yet - Live: ZCS 5.0.18!

The fix for 38112 is stated to be in there. Can anyone confirm?

I just upgraded and it seems to be working for me now--at least iCal is sending initial notifications, updates, and cancellation messages. I haven't tested responses to meeting requests.

[EDIT: Just accepted a meeting request--it works.]
