Default Palm Pre SSL Cert issue

I have a self signed SSL certificate and I exported it and imported on my pre and I still get a certificate error if I let my pre set up my server automatically then change the account information.

If I set up the account manually I get "Unable to validate account settings. Please check the settings and try again"

I have tried with both ssl and tls encryption.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It works fine on any half decent desktop client. I just select imap and then tls and accept the certificate and I'm off to the races.

You don't say whether this is with Zimbra NE version, IMAP or POP3 connection or what? When you've set the account manually, have you entered all the correct details including the correct port number?

Default oops

Sorry about that.

I am using imap. I have tried tls with 143/25 and ssl with 993/465. I would prefer tls and that is what my desktop clients are using.

I bought an SSL cert from godaddy for $13 because I could not get it to work either.

You guys should have looked in the Mobile section of the forums. Several people have had their Pre's working with self-signed certs since the day it was released.

These are the instructions I used for my Windows Mobile devices and I imported the same cert into my Pre. I use EAS sync without any issues, but I have a buddy who is doing IMAP to Zimbra and he has no issues either. Don't go buy a cert because you have a Pre, there is no need.

1. Copy your [ZIMBRA INSTALLATION DIRECTORY]/ssl/zimbra/ca/ca.pem file to a safe location.
2. Run this command on the file you copied, it shouldn't change the original.pem file, but it's better to be safe than sorry!
Code:

openssl x509 -in ca.pem -inform PEM -out MyCertificate.crt.cer -outform DER

3. Copy the new MyCertificate.crt.cer file to your Windows Mobile device (Pre in this case).

Follow this Palm article for the remainder of the steps
