Zimbra ZCS co-habitating with our Website greetings...
i was looking for a solution to our production email and web server that sorely needs a re-install, and found Zimbra and installed on a fresh ubuntu 8.04 test server and it does an awesome job at the email part, no problems testing with Outlook, webmail works and looks great, very feature rich, admin panel does the job.
the problem is, and i've searched through the forums and haven't found this... is that we have a full service server serving emails: postfix/dovecot/mysql - and also serving up our website: apache2 w/ a CMS. Zimbra appears to 'take over' the server and doesn't like a standalone apache2 to serve our website to the public.
our situation is unique in that i cannot change our email or website domain name, i.e. split the website from the email as in it must be "www.ourdomain.org".
so that on my test server when i type "www.ourdomain.com" it doesn't serve the test website, it goes directly to Zimbra, either the admin panel or webmail interface, depending of course on the 'https' used or not. no test website.
my question is then... is it possible, and if so how can i "split" the Zimbra zcs from a separate installation of apache2 to do both our email with Zimbra and still serve our website to visitors on a single server??. as in typing in "www.ourdomain.org" serves our website, and typing in "www.ourdomain.org/webmail" serves the webmail interface, and "www.ourdomain.org/zimbraAdmin" serves the admin panel.
i would love to roll Zimbra out to our users, it would blow their minds just with the web interface, but i need to keep it all on one server, with our one domain name serving both our emails and web site.
sorry if this is a long, confusing mess...
any help with this or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you!
