Default exporting mail from Zimbra

Although, I have used Zimbra for over a year now I am pretty much just a Zimbra user and nothing more. My question is, how do I export mail from the Zimbra webmail client to a .pst or some other readable format?

if you're a NE customer and have the outlook connector you can just sync your account and hten you have a file that is essentially a pst file i think it has a different extension though.

I am not familiar with NE nor am I familiar with the Outlook Connector. I use webmail and do not have a client installed. We just have the server.

Why do you want to export the mail? Why not just use a client such as Zimbra Desktop, Thunderbird etc. and keep a local copy of your email?

I need to delete the email from my sent folders to clean it up, but I would like to archive a copy before I do that. Currently we just use webmail with the Zimbra Collaboration Server. If I install the Zimbra desktop on another machine would I be able to connect to the server and have a copy stored locally which would allow me to disconnect from the server but still have access to my mail?

there is a 'backup folder' zimlet check the zimbra zimlet gallery. you can drag a folder ot it and it'll give you a zip file of that folder with all the messages in text format.

In the latest releases you can just go to Preferences->Import/Export. You can export any folder as a gzipped tar file and then re-import it if you ever need it back.

Question

We've run into problems with that solution ("Exporting" mail).

Some of our customers experience very varying levels of success (failure) when downloading the mail exports from Zimbra.

They want to use this feature so not to clutter their accounts with stuff that is rarely used.

The transfers from Zimbra stalls at anywhere from 1MB to 22MB.
