Default Moving contacts to other folders or user access to GALs

This was what I read in the "Zimbra Mail Help" (round icon on the left side):
You can move contacts out of the Contacts folder and into another folder.
But it does not work. I can drag and drop a contact to the Trash folder, but not to other folders. Isn't this the functionality meaned by the above sentence?

How can I put contacts into folders or groups to get a simple and small mailing list (friends, employees etc.)? Another option would be to have user manageable GALs.

Thanks a lot

At this time contacts in the web ui only have a single folder. If you use the Outlook connector you can move contacts into folders. In a future release we'll add the ability to move contacts around and have multiple folders in the web ui.

Thanks a lot for this information. The help should be more specific on this point, because we now switched to Zimbra and can't group our more than 800 contacts. Okay, I'll take a look if we can do something with Outlook.

Wait - the Outlook Connector only works with the paid version, not the OSS one, right?

Have a nice weekend

you could add tags to the contacts and then search like this:

tag:"customer" in:"contacts"

and you can save the search which is more or less like a folder
