Question Importing RFC messages into user's mailbox

Hello.

ZCS 5.0.14_GA_2850.UBUNTU8.FOSS

Environment:
user X: usual user
user ARC: an archivist, who receives all of domain's email via always_bcc in postfix's configuration.

User X downloads her mail with Outlook Express. The OE is set to delete mails from mailbox after retrieval.

Now X wants to get some of her messages back. The only way is use ARC's archive.

To choose messages addressed to X I've used the following command:
Code:
cp `grep -i -e "to: *X's-email-addr" -r -l /opt/zimbra/store/0/ARC's-store/msg/` /opt/zimbra/store/0/X's-store/msg/0/
OK, message files are now in X's storage. But they aren't visible with pop3/imap/web clients at all. And they're not counted in X's quota.
Re-indexing of X's mailbox does nothing. Complete index removal with re-creation does the same - nothing.

Question: what should I do to make X happy reader of her old incoming messages?

Thank you!

You should a) take a regular backup of your Zimbra and b) don't let users delete mail from the server (get more HD storage, it's cheap) and c) take a look at this article in the wiki and see if that helps. You'll probably find some threads on this topic in the forums if you search.

I do. Archivist's account is the part of backup plan.

Anyway, how to explain Zimbra that the manually copied message file (restored from backup) in user's storage directory is the mail and it must be displayed in webclient or be downloadable via pop3/imap?

It is not an option.
As I told in the first post, ALL mail (except for DSN/RSN and some short-term info) is copied to Archivist's storage.
And the problem is: how to copy messages from one account's storage to another account's storage?

Right now I found the simple workaround: in mailclient I've created two IMAP accounts, one for Archivist and another for user X. Then copied appropriate messages from ARC/inbox to X/inbox.
All worked fine, but I dislike this idea, because it assumes that I know all users' passwords to access their mailboxes via IMAP.
