Default Automatically mark junk mail as read?

Can messages delivered to the junk mail folder automatically be marked as read?

I haven't found an answer to this, so I just want to make sure I'm barking up the right tree.

We've got our Barracuda and Zimbra setup tuned for spam pretty well -- most spam gets quarantined, and the messages that come through tagged as spam -- and are then filtered into the Junk Mail folder automatically -- *are* spam. We have very, very few false positives.

As such, some users would like to have messages that are filtered to the Junk Mail folder automatically marked as read so that it doesn't distract them as being a new message. I've tried to set this up in the filters, but haven't found a way for it to work.

Let me know, thanks!

One way you could do it, bit of a fudge, would be from the Admin GUI -> Global Settings -> AS/AV -> Subject Prefix set it something like {SPAM}. Then create a filter on peoples accounts that check for this in the subject line and for the action Mark As Read. Would this achieve what you are looking for ? Also, could you update your profile please with the output from
Code:
su - zimbra
zmcontrol -v

Alas, I already tried that, but it doesn't work. The messages are already getting tagged as spam in the subject line, but the filter doesn't mark it as read when it's spam.

The funny thing is that I do know the syntax of the filter's working, because if I manually put the spam tag in a non-spam message and send it through, the message *does* get filtered correctly. It looks like Junk Mail bypasses the filters and goes directly to the Junk folder.

In that case you may want to look into Bug 1112 – a user should be able to run filter rules over an existing set of mail items. (but double-check to see if the fix includes applying filters to mail outside the inbox).

I think the sugested bug will not help when fixed because the filter just dont apply for the spam-folder and the solution couldnt be to run the filter by hand on the junk folder

the goal is to have no eye-catchers and spend no attention for junk
so running a filter by hand for the junk folder is much more attention then (at least my) junk needs

regards
C.
