External calendar share

I feel dumb just asking this as it should be simple/obvious.

I want to share my work zimbra calendar with my home zimbra installation. I can do this by sharing the calendar publicly and then adding a new calendar to the home account and pointing it at h_ttps://workmail.zimbra.com:443/home/myusername/Calendar and that works just fine.

I dont want public access though, so I pick external when adding the share and give it my home email address and a made up password. Then visiting the above link in a browser results in a username/password prompt, and keying in those credentials works.

So, how to add this to the home zimbra? There's nowhere to provide credentials and I've tried every permutation that I can think of to put them in the URL.

I'm not sure if this is the correct approach or not, and I don't have a remote installation to test it out on, but this might work:

Make sure you've shared the calendar on the work Zimbra to your home Zimbra account, then create a New Calendar on the home Zimbra account, check the box for "Synchronize appointments from remote calendar", and type the URL for the work calendar in the box provided.

Hi Ken, yes, that's exactly what I did.

It works when the calendar is shared as 'public' but if I assign a user/pass to us using the 'enternal' share process then I cannt connect to it as there seems to be no way to pass the credentials along from the home zimbra.

Well I feel better knowing that noone else knows how to handle this

Arghh, good idea Could a checkbox for secure connection be prompted where you could then add a username and password if selected ?

I did try that, yes. I get an error saying that "The follwing url is not currently reachable"

I expect that's because the share is created with an email address as the user name, so the url will then contain two @ symbols.

I ended up sharing the calendar as public, it's the only way I could make it work. Then I noticed that it does not keep up to date, it needs manually refreshing which seems to dump the contents and reload the whole thing from the remote server, which is cumbersome.

I think this means that this is not the best way to go about the task!
