Default open port 7071

I know this question has been posted before, but I couldn't find an answer that fit. I have open source Zimbra installed on RHEL 4 and everything is working except that I cannot get to the admin console outside of the server. I have the firewall disabled and SELinux disabled.

nmap shows the following ports open:
PORT STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open ssh
25/tcp open smtp
80/tcp open http
110/tcp open pop3
111/tcp open rpcbind
143/tcp open imap
389/tcp open ldap
443/tcp open https
631/tcp open ipp
636/tcp open ldapssl
993/tcp open imaps
995/tcp open pop3s

How do I open port 7071?

Thanks.

Hi

Welcome to the forums.

If you can't get to port 7071 from other machines on your lan then you've either got SElinux enabled or you have a firewall blocking you. I'm assuming that you can use the admin console from the server itself? You do also have iptables disabled don't you?

I've stopped iptables, but that didn't make any difference. I can access the console from the server itself. The error that I get is that "The connection has timed out." We have another machine that acts as a firewall for our LAN, but port 7071 is supposed to be open on that machine. So, is it possible that the firewall server is causing the problem?

What you call your 'LAN firewall', does it actually act as a firewall for the LAN itself or just for inbound traffic from the internet? If it really acts as a LAN firewall then you'll need to open the ports for Zimbra. If you're getting a timeout then that's symptomatic of a firewall blocking access.

Okay, we just determined that it is a problem with our firewall. We thought that we had port 7071 open on it. Are there any other ports that need to be open for the admin console or should just 7071 do it?

Offhand, I think it's just 7071. Obviously if there's any problems with that port open in the firewall then I'm wrong, have a quick search through the forum as it's been listed before.
