Default Calendar Folders appear in IMAP

After creating some calendars I am confused as to why these do not appear in my folders on the Zimbra interface, but do appear in my IMAP folders from Mail on my Mac OS X.

They are empty so don't seem to serve any purpose. Am I missing something?

In most IMAP clients you don't have to expose all your folders. For example in Thunderbird I just subscribe to a couple folders. In general calendars are just folders in the system so IMAP exposes them.

Understood. Can I therefore use them as normal mail folders, so I can have a folder like "Work" which is both my work mail and work calendar?

We don't currently support mixed objects in folder via the UI. The server can support it but we don't expose that today.
