every message that comes in is indexed for searching and displaying purposes. sometimes things can happen to the index for particular accounts it may get corrupted or something. reindexing builds the index of all the messages for the account from scratch.
So if I completed importing 10GB of emails from outlook into zimbra, would it be recommended to reindex the account? Or would it be ok....?
Basically, reindexing assists/helps when files/emails/folders seam to not be appearing/showing... reindexing doesn't help with optimization/efficiency... correct?
zimbra will have indexed those messages as they were imported. It's as optimized as it's going to get then. Yeah you only really want to reindex if theres a problem with the account if you're getting messages about missing blobs or something
ok, cool, thanks for the info![]()
Does it re-index the "keys" assigned to messages within Zimbra desktop too. There are some issues going (e.g. bug 31450 where mail from local zimbra desktop are missing from yahoo web mail server. to start with these were "downloaded" from yahoo web mail server itself but after moving them around in local zimbra desktop folders, they went missing from yahoo web mail server.
