Default Preferences --> enable mail signature

Greetings.

I've setup a couple classes of service and assigned a domain access to one. I'm trying to set it up so by default everyone is allowed to create and enable their own signatures. For whatever reason, there doesn't seem to be a way to have the "enable mail signature" checked by default when a new email account is created.

Does anyone know a way to get this set as a default, rather than requiring "me" to go in and update it for every user?

zimbraFeatureSignaturesEnabled controls if you're allowed to use signatures, but isn't exposed in the admin console features tab at the moment.
So to satisfy:

All you need to do is:
zmprov mv COSname zimbraFeatureSignaturesEnabled TRUE
(it should already be TRUE on the default COS unless you've changed it)

It sounds like you're talking about the "enable mail signature" checkbox in preferences, which is used to edit the 'current signature' zimbraPrefMailSignatureEnabled & zimbraPrefMailSignature on the account. (Which can't be set on COS, you'll get a LDAP schema violation code 65 - see /opt/zimbra/conf/attrs/zimbra-attrs.xml)

Other values included: zimbraMailSignatureMaxLength, zimbraSignatureMaxNumEntries, zimbraSignatureMinNumEntries, zimbraPrefMailSignatureHTML, zimbraSignatureId, zimbraPrefDefaultSignatureId, zimbraSignatureName, zimbraPrefMailSignatureStyle

small typeo - but I figured it out:
zmprov mc COSname zimbraFeatureSignaturesEnabled TRUE

however... I tried that for each COSname I have created and so far creating new accounts still has the "enable mail signature" unchecked by default. Do I have to restart zimbra?

I don't understand why this would not be editable/settable in the admin... it seems like a bit of a deal-breaker as far as signatures being accessible to users... hopefully I'm just missing something. I'm still a Zimbra n00b.

zimbraFeatureSignaturesEnabled TRUE makes the use of signatures available to users - that's all you need to do - but you really don't need to anyways as it's enabled by default.

The checkbox you're looking at is to manually set each user's current signature contents - zimbraPrefMailSignatureEnabled & zimbraPrefMailSignature on the account, they are not COS values.

Look at the difference between COS > Preferences tab & the Account > Preferences tab.

So in essence what's not available in the admin console is the ability to turn off the use of signatures entirely.
There are lots of other attributes not exposed in the admin console yet, certainly open an RFE in bugzilla if you think that should be one of the checkboxes on the Features tab of COS/Account.

Thanks for your quick and straightforward support.

I'm a bit confused but I think I'm starting to understand this. I'll try this again when I setup another domain, but it may just be that myself and the end-users didn't understand how to enable a signature from the end-user preferences area. When I check that "enable mail signature" box from the master-admin area I think that means I created a "blank" signature for them to edit, so it just appeared like I had enabled signatures for them...

Ok I could see how one could think that, but it's not needed. Users should get the edit & add signature buttons without you checking that box in the admin console:
