Default Move Sent messages to another folder

Hi!

Is it possible to save messages sent via a persona to a special folder, not the normal sent folder? We want multiple users to access one shared inbox and have replies to messages saved in a central location all of those users can see (not just in their private sent folder).

Thanks

Chris

Certainly in ZCS 5.0.9 there is a option under Preferences->Accounts->Add Persona->Persona Setting->Replying to or forwarding messages in folder(s): where you can select what folder the messages should be filed in. This could then be shared out to your users.

No, unfortunately this setting specifies from which folders replies are sent with that persona (not into which folder they are saved).

As zimbraPrefSentMailFolder was depreciated for 5.0.x on identities (ie what you would consider to be preferences > accounts > personas & external accounts today) in Bug 17320 - Next rev of (mail) identities preferences management (server side) It can still be set on the primary account/cos, but it's not easily exposed. You want to vote for something like Bug 29907 - User specified names for Sent, Trash and Draft folders > Bug 25875 - allow user migration or remapping of reserved folders on ZWC

Quote:
<attr id="103" name="zimbraPrefSentMailFolder" type="string" max="256" cardinality="single" optionalIn="account,cos,identity" flags="accountInherited,domainAdminModifiable">
<defaultCOSValue>sent</defaultCOSValue>
<desc>
name of folder to save sent mail in (deprecatedSince 5.0 in identity)
</desc>
</attr>

I want to set up as follows:
3 users, 3 accounts, one shared account.

3 users sending mail, all sent mail from all 3 users going to sent folder in the shared account.

Is that possible?

Here's an interesting approach - until it's changed in Bug 22819 - reply to another user's message is always on-behalf-of is changed (probably will give a drop down choice of how to send it) you can take advantage of this behavior without the need for persona's - assuming all involved are using ZWC:

The test:
Create 5 accounts.
1) Shared
2) User1 -manager of shared's inbox & sent
3) User2 -viewer of shared's inbox & sent
4) Test1
5) Test2

Send message from user1 to test1 (or user2 to test2) and both user1 & user2 can see the sent mail - best if you're using conversation view so it's shown when not in the shared sent folder and working in shared inbox.

Zimbra will show this as 'sending on behalf'

The headers look like:
From: shared@domain.com (so to test1 or test2's perspective it's shared sending the email)
Sender: user1@domain.com (so yes test1 or test2 can technically view the mail headers and see which person sent it if not using ZWC - some mail clients may display this)
To: test1@domain.com

See bug 25875 comment 12

Besides the renaming/remapping of reserved folders we should probably bring back zimbraPrefSaveToSent somehow on personas.

When sharing 'on behalf of' takes care of saving to shared's sent folder sometimes.

There's still the use case where you might want different sent folders for
different work/personal identities.
I would track that bug and possibly open a new one if that outcome isn't included.
