Default RSS and HTTPS:

I'm trying to access an RSS feed that has an https: url and requires authentication. This doesn't seem to work with the Zimbra web client. After I enter the url, I get a "Critical Error": "Content could not be retrieved. Make sure the following URL is a RSS/ATOM feed:" followed by the url. It does not request authentication. I'm using FireFox 1.5 with network release 3.0, I believe.

Please note that this RSS feed does work with Thunderbird, and http: RSS feeds work with the Zimbra client.

Any suggestions? I couldn't find any relevant info in the Forums or Bugzilla. Should I file this in Bugzilla?

What is the URL and how did you enter it? The format in that case should be:

Code:
https://USER:PASS@site.com/rss.xml

Hello Kevin,
Thanks but no progress. I tried: https://richard.parker:password@site...cent_items_rss
and received the same error message.

Other suggestions?

Does that URL open in your browser? Are you running the latest 3.0.1 GA?

In FF 1.5, it pops up a login request even if I use the format https://richard.parker:password@site...cent_items_rss
After I provide the account/password, the xml appears and looks ok.

I've tried subscribing to the feed in both 3.0.0 GA and 3.0.1 GA, same results. I'm going to see if I can change my account name at the feed source to remove the ".". Perhaps that is confusing something?

Not being able to open it in a browser is a good indication it won't work in Zimbra from other feeds I've tested.

I think we only support basic auth for rss feeds - could this site be using digest authentication?

Thanks Kevin and Marc,
I think you are correct that they are doing some other type of authentication. I'll contact the provider and see what they can tell me.
