Default 5.0.9 broke sorting by From: in web client?

This is one of those bizarro situations that leads me to wonder if it is just our install that is somehow broken. After an upgrade to 5.0.9 NE, our users have found they can't click on the "From" column header in the web interface to sort their messages by the sender. Other headers are clickable (Date, Subject, etc), but From remains recalcitrant. This functionality is kind of important to our users.

I've tested this from both Safari 3 and Firefox 3 (with clean caches), both behave exactly the same. Is this a real bug I should file?

Given the second report of this here, I've filed bug #31102: Sorting by sender in web client broken in 5.0.9.

Thanks for posting. I think our 5.0.9 upgrade is off. Any compelling positive changes in 5.0.9?

These are the only issues that look relevant to us. Better Palm and iPhone support would be nice but isn't critical.

Bug 28598 – appointment reminder showing wrong alert at wrong time
Bug 30538 – VersaMail 3.5.4 does not sync mails
Bug 29899 – iPhone 2.0 + Zimbra Mobile Sync can cause high CPU usage for large mailboxes

Nothing compelling, or fixed-problems that we were experiencing, no. The iphone support was supposed to be more solid (e.g. there was a battery-life bug, but seemed to be more of a corner case) - the main reason I went to 5.0.9... too quickly it seems. Small benefit, initial registration of mobile-sync for an iphone works the first time now (used to take two times for it to be successfull).

We upgraded quickly to get the iPhone fixes (fix for drain w/cal & contact sync, no cpu load spike, sync multiple (but alas, not shared) calendars).

The only negative so far that our users have noticed is the lack of sender sort I mentioned.

Ours is definitely off. Our users are starting to get comfortable and we can't afford obvious new bugs cropping up at this point. Hopefully the fix will be in for 5.0.10.

We were happy to see the "Edit as new" feature back in the right menu, but that can wait. Oh, and the, Firefox printing bug fix.

As suggested at Bug 30538 – VersaMail 3.5.4 does not sync mails there exists a way to backport the mobile sync features of 5.0.9 to 5.0.8. Obviously Zimbra doesn't want to be in the business of backporting, but they happened to have produced it already for another customer before 5.0.9 was released. If you are in the same sort of start-of-school-year situation as we are, you can ask support nicely for the existing zimbrasync.jar hot patch to apply to 5.0.8.

I'm not sure when our system will be upgraded to 5.10, so does anyone know a functional solution for this in the meantime?
