Default Zimbra Server HDD Space

Hi All,

I am new associate to Zimbra, We are running Zimbra Mail Server v4.5 in RHEL 4. Server HDD is going on declining, Is anything can be deleted.. like spam/junk mails and antivirus clam quarantine files in the server.

And also I need to know whether all mails of the users are getting stored in Server?? If we use e-mails clients like Thunberbird or Outlook and importing mails, can it will increase the HDD space in the Server.

Sorry for inane query. Please help me out.

Thanks in Advance,
Sathish

You'll have to look in the /opt/zimbra directories and see what's consuming the space. You don't actually say how much space that directory take nor how big your HD is.

Hi,

Y'day I had checked the size of the directory /opt/zimbra. However I found consuming space directory is
18G /opt/zimbra/log

and in this directory i have checked the files and 1 file by name as mentioned below
-rw-r----- 1 zimbra zimbra 18737238613 Aug 15 13:45 zmmtaconfig.log

where as others it has taken as
-rw-r----- 1 zimbra zimbra 185696 Aug 13 23:59 zimbrastats.csv.2008-08-13
-rw-r----- 1 zimbra zimbra 185750 Aug 14 23:59 zimbrastats.csv.2008-08-14
from Jan 4,2008 upto as on date.

Please suggest can i delete the above file zmmtaconfig.log?? Is this safe to delete..

Please let me know.

Thanks in Advance.

You can certainly empty that file if you like. The answer to your problem would depend on which version of 4.5.x you're using, see the following bug reports:

Bug 18445 – zmmtaconfig default loglevel is set to high
Bug 10398 – clean up logging for swatch, zmmtaconfig

I'd also suggest you upgrade to the most recent 5.0.x version at the earliest opportunity.

Hi phoenix,

Thanks for your reply, Sure definitely I'll upgrade to the latest version 5.0.x, meanwhile before deleting the log file zmmtaconfig.log. Is zimbra engine to be stopped or its okay while it is running ??

Just as a precaution, I'd stop ZImbra then zero the file and restart.
