Default contact import with csv

Hi,

we tried importing contacts from a csv file.
It does not work.
I exported my own address book from Zimbra and tried to import it into another account (so no error in the csv file possible).
A number of contacts showed up, but all said "No Name" and they were empty.
Same happened with contacts exported from Outlook.

Side question: How can I map fields from a (german) Outlook export?

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help

Christian

It works for me, what format did you export the csv file as? I assume you're talking about the Web UI?

Yes, I exported from the web ui.
From Outlook I tried both available csv formats (dos and windows).

In 5.0.8 there's a choice of the format for the export via the drop-down box, did you export it in the correct format? Did you import the resulting file back in via the web ui or into Outlook?

When you export from any other application the resulting csv must be modified to be in the correct format for import, see the wili article here: Import and Export of Contacts - Zimbra :: Wiki

I'm having the same problem. Our import is matched to a template created by exporting a test contact. The issue we're having is many contacts are missing pieces of information and the info is in the csv. I haven't detected a pattern to this. For example some contacts come in with work numbers and some don't. The phone number's are all in the same format. All I can say is this is a weak import utility, and the complete lack of good documentation is frustrating.

The wiki link that has been posted is useless. It also is missing all the work fields in the example.
