Default [SOLVED] finding contacts in webclient not stable?

Hello,

*I have on and off trouble searching for contacts in address books.
Using the search box at the top of the webclient, today again nothing is found.
This has worked in the past week, although already with some difficulties.
It was not clear if the search was case-dependent, if wildcards were necessary.
I think I settled at: case-independent, wildcard necessary

fe: glen* would yield glenndm@company.com as a result.
while Gle would not.

but today, that doesn't work anymore.

* Does the search return contacts if any of its properties corresponds to the search term?

*the addresslist is a shared address book accessible to all.
I enabled the option "Include shared items"
Browser : firefox 3(01?)

regards
glenn

It works for me in the current 5.0.8, it will return all the smiths in my contacts (including another shared contact list) if I enter smi* or Smi* or Smith or smith. The search is case insensitive but you will need to use the wildcard on partial names.

*It has worked for me too, but no longer.
A second user also can't find contacts anymore. they are visible in the address list though.

*I restarted zimbra, clear the browser cache. sadly without improvement

*I noticed the option "include shared items" is turned off each time the webclient is reopened or reloaded.

* Is there a better method for a common addresslist (the contacts are external customers) than using a shared address book.
As I understand, the GAL cannot be used for this.

* my setup is pretty much standard, but for date/time format modifcation to I18nMsg.properties and AjxMsg.properties as posted here

with internet explorer I also get no results from the shared address book
so it seems unrelated to the browser

* items from personal address books are returned.

* perhaps for a future implementation: searching with leading wildcards *mith

improvement: I recreated the shared (common) addresslist.

Now (with "include shared contacts" enabled), results are found. So that's working again.

annoying is that the "include shared contacts" keep turning itself off.
-enable option
-click on Mail tab > option is still activated
-click on Calendar tab > option is cleared

is there an admin method I can freeze the setting?
