Question Linking to a Resource's Shared Calendar in AJAX Web Client

Hi all, I sure hope there's something simple I'm missing here, and I sure hope I'm posting to the right forum...

Using ZCS version 5.0.5 GA_2201.ubuntu6, I've created a couple of resources (conference rooms) and I've shared those resources' calendars to "PUBLIC" through the Admin Console.

In Outlook 2003, I can choose "Open a Shared Calendar..." and pick those resource calendars out of the GAL, no problem.

When I try the "Link to Shared Calendar" option in the Zimbra Web Client, I'm prompted for an email address. Type ahead kicks in to show me email addresses from the GAL, but it doesn't list any of my resources.

How do I allow our users to link to these existing publicly shared calendars without my having to send individual invitations to each web client user?

Thanks in advance for any direction you may be able to provide...

Hi!

The user just has to right-click on Calendar just below the "New Calendar" button on the left upper side.

There you can enter the sharing Email address etc.

Hope this helps...

Default Still Unable to Link to Resource Calendars

Thanks for your time, Chris. Unfortunately, that solution only works for us if it is a user's shared calendar, not a resource's shared calendar. Since resources are not listed in the ZCS web client GAL, I'm unable to link to the shared calendar that way. If I put all of the resource's credentials in the path field (i.e: https://zimbra.company.com/home/reso...endar/Calendar) I just get a message that says "No Such Folder Exists". I guess my real question is: How do I get Resources to appear in the ZCS Web Client GAL?

Let me modify my post... my Firefox was upset at me for being connected to too many ZCS sessions at once. I am able to connect to the URL for the shared calendar on both my 5.0.2 and 5.0.6 systems.

URL: https ://mail.server.com/home/timeoff/Calendar (location is called timeoff)

New Calendar -> 'Synchronize appointments from remote calendar' -> enter URL

Is it even possible to open a "resource calendar" in the Zimbra mail client? Has anyone out there successfully done this? I can't seem to do it.

Edit - I can do it if I send out an invite but, we need a way to do it without that. We want everyone in the company to be able to access the calendar and sending out invites for 10 calendars to all employees will create a mess.

Nevermind. Right after I made that last post I checked my email and a customer support rep sent me the answer.

In Path just put "Calendar" and you can open it.

I did not see an answer to Roberts question:
"How do I get Resources to appear in the ZCS Web Client GAL?"

We have just migrated our company to Zimbra and have a number of resources created for the conference rooms in the building.
Everyone is very comfortable right-clicking on the "Calendars" bar and selecting "Link to Shared Calendar" to view another users calendar. In the dialog box that appears, as one starts to type in the email address field, the GAL look-up appears and one can select the correct user. After entering "Calendar" in the "Path" field and clicking "OK" the shared calendar is added to the list.
The problem occurs when one tries to perform the same action as described above but tries to enter the email address for one of the resources (conference rooms). The GAL does have these resources apparently and so a look-up fails. How do we rectify this?
Clearly from a user interface perspective, one should be able to subscribe to shared calendars for other users and for resources using the same method.
I hope I've described the problem clearly and that there is a simple solution.
