Default Calendar Issues

I've setup one user in our office to maintain several calendars (our secretary). The individual is able to see and administor these calendars with one big problem - you have to hit refresh every time a change is made to another persons calendar (adding a task/deleting a task/etc)... We are running the general release... Thoughts?

When the secretary makes the change? Or when the owner makes a change?

How about when the secretary makes the changes? Does it mean that all users should reload their calendars in order to see the changes?

Are there any future release that will solve this?

When the secretary makes a change (the individual assigned priviledges to manage someone elses calendar) ...

She has to click *refresh* to see the events she's added/changed/deleted.

At this time the server doesn't trigger notifications for mounted/shared folders. So a manually refresh is needed. We are looking at ways to allow notifications to be sent in a case like this (where the person making the change is notified). If we just notified all the shares it could be a scale problem since some calendars could be shared with 100's of people.

I filed this as an enhancement.

Kevin-
This issue is extremely important to everyone I know looking for calendar software. If the calendar has to be refreshed manually, it doesn't work as far as I am concerned. It also is dangerous as a user has no idea of appointment conflicts ie-
If my calendar already has an 8:00 am appt, there is nothing to stop the secty from making an overlapping appt, and she has no idea this has occurred. My appt doesn't even show up until she hits refresh. Any decent MS calendar program has conflict resolution warnings etc.

Hey Seth-
Bug 6082 is marked for release with Franklin, which is 5.0 (our next major release).

We're targeting 5.0 for release on 10/15/07, and a Beta 1 of 5 will be released anytime now

This is a MAJOR bug for us, and Dan Karp is working hard on it

Thanks,
john

We were not planning on using the outlook connector, in favor of the web client. Do you know if this behavour is the same with outlook as a front end and shared calendars?
