It's kinda late in the 5.0.x game (especially since 5.5 is Q3.. or so I think I saw somewhere, could be wrong) but since you're a paying customer, you can have a support ticket added to that bug, if you haven't already. Voices with money behind them yell louder than those without.

This is 1 of several reasons we block read receipts. This feature is of no benefit to our organization.
