Default "Private" events - still show most of the info??

I don't see anything about this particular issue...

When I mark a calendar event as Private, someone who has access to my calendar can still see the event (with the little lock icon), it shows the description of the event, and when you hover, it brings up the normal display box, with the notes, the attendees, etc. The only difference I see is that when you try to open the event it denies on the basis of being 'private.'

Now, this behavior doesn't seem very private to me. I would imagine that the description, details, and attendees to a private meeting should remain just that.. private.

Is this intended behavior? If so, I don't like it. I didn't see any bugs relating to this. The original RFE/bug is marked FIXED ( Bug 6460 - Enable shared calendar entries to be marked private ), and this one ( Bug 14265 - Support for private items ) seems a bit more generic.

Should I append this to 14265, or open a new bug?

That is very strange indeed. I have a private calendar entry (our anniverary! ) setup and have just checked from my fiancees account and she is unable to view it. Is this happening on every private calendar entry ?

What Role has been associated with your shared calendar ? Do the other people have Viewer or Manager ?

I've tried this shared back and forth between 2 accounts. Both shares are set to View level. I can't 'open' them, but they display info when you hover... it displays the event name, note, attendees, etc. Not very private.

Sounds like a bug to me. File it.

Personally, I don't think that the events marked Private should display anything other than a time block with 'Private' - people should be able to name their calendar events something appropriate, even if they don't want other people knowing what they're doing... like "Proctologist Appointment" or something.

Bug 25805 - Private events still show info

I do not disagree with you, just finding it hard to replicate the problem

What does your popup display when you hover over a private event in a shared calendar? Does it say 'this is private' or give you information? I can attach SS's to the bug if need be.

Just the little padlock appears. When I get back tomorrow I shall setup up some test accounts so I can play around with this more. A SS would certainly be good for the developers.

Okay, apparently if I'm an administrator, I can see people's private events. When I remove the administrator access from my account the event doesn't show any info.

Is this intended behavior?

okay. but in your original post you say that when you mark a event as private others are able to see the details. do those users have Admin rights aswell ?
