    Default [SOLVED] Pop/IMAP access

Installed the latest version of Zimbra on a Ubuntu server. Using the webmail I can send and receive emails with no issues. I am unable to setup Outlook to talk to the Zimbra server via pop or imap. When I set up a pop account in Outlook (2003) and click the test account settings button, I get a Enter Network Password box. I retyped the password, and tried using the full email address and just the username without the @domain.com and am unable to connect to the server. I have tried internal and external authentication with no luck.
What am I doing wrong or missing.

FYI IMAP just locks up Outlook which I'm guessing is do to the same problem that is affecting the pop access.

Dave, there's a lot that can be going on here and it could lead several different directions. Have you confirmed, first of all, that the client machine can see the Zimbra server, and second, that the necessary ports (110 for POP, 25 for SMTP, 993 for secure IMAP, 995 secure POP, 465 secure SMTP) are available?

If you're using the unsecure ports (not recommended), have you enabled clear text login on the GUI? If you aren't, have you enabled SSL/TLS on your client?

Just in case it's a special joy of Outlook, have you tried a different client such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird?

Finally, log onto your Zimbra box at the command line and have a look at /var/log/zimbra.log and see if there are any errors from failed attempts to log in.

Any of these items may help you to debug where the issue is.

    Cheers,

    Dan

    Default Fixed

A day or so after posting I found a fix. I had to select SSL and and port 7995 for the pop server and it all started working.
    Thanks for replying.

Dahoove, while you have it working it's likely that you have the normal pop ports flipped with the proxy ( + proxy isn't needed on a single server setup).
    Post the output of:
    su - zimbra
zmprov gs server.domain.com | grep Pop
zmprov gs server.domain.com | grep Imap
To correct that you could run:
    zmprov -l ms server.domain.com zimbraPop3BindPort 110 zimbraPop3SSLBindPort 995 zimbraPop3ProxyBindPort 7110 zimbraPop3SSLProxyBindPort 7995 zimbraImapBindPort 143 zimbraImapSSLBindPort 993 zimbraImapProxyBindPort 7143 zimbraImapSSLProxyBindPort 7993
    zmcontrol stop
    zmcontrol start
(yes that modifyServer one is all on a single line)
