Default Incorrect meeting times in Apple's iCal

Hi,

I'm having a problem with Zimbra-generated ICS calendar events in my Apple iCal.app calendar client. Events are being posted to my calendar (Apple calendar) seven hours earlier than they actually should be. -0700 is our GMT offset here. A meeting scheduled for 1300 shows up on my calendar at 0600. Not wanting to show up for work every day this early, I'd really like to find a workaround. For a reference point, the meetings show up at the correct time in the Zimbra web client.

Any ideas?

Chris

Can you attach the ics file that's being generated?

Sure, file is attached. I had to append '.txt' to the filename to get it to upload.
Thanks,
Chris

Ok this was a bug where we were escaping the time zones. It's fixed and will be part of the next release. Thanks for the file. Made it very easy to track down.

Is there a diff that I could ask our Zimbra administrators to apply?

Thanks,

Chris

PS- There's a temporary work-around. In iCal's Preferences, under Advanced, put a check mark next to "Turn on time zone support."

Default incorrect meeting times in Apple's iCal

Hi,

I am facing the same problem for the APPLE ical -> remote server -> zimbra.

The meeting times is not the same. I have turned on the time zone support option.

Inspecting the ical file on the remote server, I have found out the at 13/3/2006 1500, the schedule is PLOTTING. But after reloading the zimbra interface, the schedule for PLOTTING appears at 1540. On the Apple ical, it is at 1500.

Any ideas? I am testing on the open source version of the version 3.

What exact version of Zimbra do you have? Can you post an ical file that shows the problem?

Hi

Here is ical file. This ical file is generated by my apple with the proper timezone settings and correct time (SGT). It is then uploaded to the remote apache server. The zimbra draws the calendar from there and got a 40 mins delay. That means in the ical file is says 1315 there is a dental appointment, but the zimbra shows up as 1355.

Hope this info helps.

Hi,

I think I did not get a reply for this as I did not give the version of the zimbra.

It is zcs-3.0.1_GA_160.FC4.

Thanks.

You should retest when you upgrade to 3.1, we've made some fixes in this area around Apple iCal.
