Default Conversation display and sorting

I've been looking at the conversation view in the latest v5 and it seems to be less intuitive than it was previously for a couple of reasons.

1. When expanding a conversation, it shows the initial email twice. Once as the main "parent" then again at the bottom of the conversation list. Ideally, you would expand the conversation and it would remain as the 1st email, with each reply in chronological order below it. Which brings me to #2

2. The sort order is backwards. The initial email shows first, then the Latest reply, then it proceeds chronologically backward until it shows the initial email at the bottom of the list.

Is there a way of changing this in v5 to view the conversations like they were in previous versions?

Ideally, It should work more like gmail where the order is reflective of the actual conversation and only show the initial email ONCE as the parent.

For #2 vote on: Bug 23212 - Show msgs within a conv (in CLV) from old to new
(The trick is the traedoff in still only showing the most recent page of msgs for the conv, as some convs have more than one page of msgs.)

I didn't see that bug, thank you. I would rather just see the whole conversation from the Parent (oldest) and go down the list to the most recent regardless of the number of messages. It's much easier to see the conversation progress and understand. If I double click a conversation, then reverse sort it on the new screen showing the conversation then it becomes a bit more usable, however it doesn't remember this setting. I love v5, but this change so far is my biggest disappointment.

I'm pretty sure #1 is in bugzilla as well (trying to find it- feel free to file another and I'll mark it a dupe should I come across it).
I'm not getting part of the behavior of #2 though:

I totally understand the next part of this (wanting the sort to stick - which is probably the best solution for bug 23212). But could you post some screenshots to show how they got out of order? Mine are all chronological by received date newest on top - which works pretty well with 300 count email threads, as I want to know what's new/happening & not scroll down page after page
Saw your comment in the bug & I really haven't seen the random mix happen.
