Hmm .. My blackberry is busted so I cant use it to see this, but using the mobile interface in IE, I see none of those buttons at the bottom and neither does one user using a Treo.

Open up the advanced (ajax) or standard (html) client > preferences > mail > group mail by: change this to conversation view > go back to mobile client.
