Autocomplete causes Permission Denied popup

Recently every time I start typing an email address, the auto-complete pops up as normal but at the same time I get a pop up:

! Permission Denied

Details:
msg - permission denied: cannot auto complete GAL
code - service.PERM_DENIED
method - ZmCsfeCommand.prototype.invoke
detail - soap:Sender

If I hit escape then I can select an autocomplete without a problem. But it is annoying that this appears every time.

Any ideas anyone?

Check your admin console > individual user to make sure all 3 of these are set:
> features > general section > Global Address List access
> features > general section > Autocomplete from GAL
> preferences > address book options > Use the GAL when autocompleting addresses
This has been fixed for 5.0 GA builds: Bug 20582 - Permission denied when using autocomplete and GAL access is denied

Thanks - I don't personally have access to the admin but I will try to get to the person who does

We don't have the GAL turned on. It looks to me like the problem happens when the browser (in this case IE7) is left open too long and the available memory is used up and the autocomplete has no room to store the entire address book.

Could be, I have a lot of contacts (~5000)

It does seem to be waiting for GAL when the problem occurs. See attached screenshot!
