Default multiple Imap-servers visible in the Reading Pane?

Hello,

is there a way to have not only the mboxes of a single Zimbra server shown in the Reading Pane, but in addition other emailserver(s) ?

Thank's a lot!

John

In 4.5.x you can connect to external POP accounts.
In 5.0 you can do external POP & IMAP (for collaboration with internal users there's shared mail folders).
Try it out in the 5RC2 Hosted Demo!
Preferences tab > accounts tab > add external account

Thank's a lot for your help! We intend to make soon our first ZSC-installation. I think it would make sense to take V5.

Im not sure if I fully understand you, but I have the impression it will be possible to have shown (beside the Zimbra-mboxes) mboxes of external IMAP-servers in the Zimbra Reading Pane.

Questions:
1.
Does drag&drop of mails/messages stored on the old IMAP mail server to the ZCS mboxes work?

2.
Is there a way to keep the original date of the emails?

Thank's for any additional feedback!

John

PS
With this approach we hope to be able to "migrate" the content(emails) of
our old mail server the the new Zimbra environment :-)

Have a look at imapsync. It will work a lot better for migrating mail from one IMAP server to another. There are a couple of threads in here on using it.

Thank's a lot for the help!

Is it required to install imapsync on the old and/or on the new(Zimbra-server)?

Thank you!

John

You only need it installed on one of the IMAP servers. I find it easier to install it on the destination server, and then run it against localhost like imapsync --host1=remotehost --host2=localhost --user1= ... etc. But it will work from either side. You can even run it from a separate box and tell it to connect to the two remote IMAP server, although the performance will decrease in that setup.
