Default Send an email to an entire address book

Hello,

I need to send an email to an entire address book, or many people inside it. I did not find the way to do it, because I can only look recipients one at a time in your address book, or list a few looking for "*", but not all leave. If you attempt to create a distribution list, I can not show all contacts because I have more than 100. How can I do?

Sorry for my bad English, I am Spanish.

Thanks.

I did figure out one way to do this that seems to work on my system, though I only have about 35 addresses so I can't verify what happens with a larger list. When you try to compose a new email message, click on the "To" button, and in the address search, search on the character "@". Since every email address has an @, it brings up the whole bunch.

Select them all and write your email. It worked for me. . .

Yes, so what I try to do, and always work not have many contacts, because when they put "@" and look, I think that shows you the first 60. The problem is if you have more of these 60 contacts, and that can not see the next page.

You might check the Global Services, General tab in the UI. There's a field there for the "Most results returned by GAL search." Increasing the number may help. Also check the "Address Book" tab in your settings in the web mail client--you can change the number of contacts to display per page.

Since I have a small address book I can't test whether either of these settings would help you, but they're worth a try. The other alternative is to use an IMAP client like Thunderbird and set it up with an LDAP connection. Then you can do your searches from there.

With the GAL no problems, there I find all contacts. The problem is that if I have, for example, an address book called "Friends", and contents 100 contacts, How can I select everyone to send an email? I already have marked an option to display more contacts, but only affect the GAL.

When I write a new message, in "To:" button, only appears "Contacts", "Personal and shared contacts" and "Global address list".
I need Zimbra showme "Friends" folder, to send mail to everyone in this address book.

Sorry my very bad English xDD

OK, I think I understand your problem. I did a test in my own address book (only with fewer people). I created a "Friends" address book (this is a new Address Book, not new Folder) and moved some addresses in there. You are right, when you click the "To:" button it doesn't show the "Friends" book. But if you select "Contacts" in the "Show Names From" button, and then in the search bar (on the upper-left side of the window) type
Code:
in:"Friends"
the addresses in the "Friends" address book will be listed, and you can select them. Is this what you are trying to do?

Yes! That's one of my problems! Ok, I can search in this address book, but when i search "in:"friends"", Zimbra only show me 49 contacts, and in the address book I have 65 contacts.

I need Zimbra show me all contacts.

Thank you very much!

Default Same Exact Problem Here

The tag:"Tag Name" or in:"Address Book Name" approaches work, but only show me the first 50 addresses. This is becoming a big issue for one of my users with 300+ contacts. She doesn't want to have to either hunt through her list each time she creates a new message, or hunt through the list to create a new group or tag mail recipients. Is there any way to break that 50 address limit when searching?

I think the answer to the limit questions for both of you is to use an external client for now, because I believe this is a limitation of the current Zimbra package. To be able to list more in the web client will require an RFE with Bugzilla.

I should've asked and didn't--have you checked the setting "Most results returned by GAL search" in the admin UI (Global Settings, General tab) or in the user's settings "Number of contacts to display per page" limit?
