Feature request from multiple users: typing in a few letters of the contact name email offers a filtered list overlay. As seen in GMail, some email clients. Thanks.

You mean in the to: field of a new email?
Zimbra supports that.
Any config/setting hint I can pass on to the admin to get this working? Is there a reason why this may not be exposed for our particular setup? Thanks.Originally Posted by marcmac
I don't think it's possible to turn this off - it's certainly on by default.
When typing in the TO field in the web client, addresses matched in your contact list will show up in a drop down. <tab> or ';' will complete the hilighted address, or up/down arrows can select.
Which browser is this not working in?
OK, it works fine. I see the disconnect. Assumption was that it was not necessary to add to contacts overtly, but list would be culled from correspondences automatically. Easy enough to take the extra step of adding to contacts. Thanks.
auto-creation of contacts should be a setting in the user options, under the mail tab - not sure if it's on or off by default - and I think it creates contacts from outgoing messages.
Marc, this is probably the appropriate thread to add this question to.
When I'm typing a name that I have in my contact list, it only shows 1 of the email addresses I have stored.
For example, let's say I have a contact that has 2 email address: johnsmith@mycompanyname.com and johnsmith@gmail.com. When I start typing "J...o...h...", the auto fill only shows johnsmith@gmail.com (it doesn't even show johnsmith@mycompanyname.com). Now, it should be noted that the johnsmith@gmail.com address is actually in the Email 2 field.
Any thoughts on why the primarily listed email isn't showing up at all?
This looks like a bug. We always show the last match for a contact from what I can tell.
Are you going to file the bug from this post, or should I go put it on the bugzilla site?Originally Posted by KevinH
You can create it. This way you'll get notified when it's fixed.Originally Posted by mattdono
