Post Appointment alarm

I have just finished wathching the flash demo and tried out the demo of Zimbra and I am impressed. This is really something!

One question though. When creating an appointment I didn't notice any option for triggering off an alarm at the due time of the meeting (or whatever). Is this feature missing?

Default Alarms

Appointment alarms are also a keen interest of mine.
I noted that the ZNAppointment object already has an 'alarm' property (Boolean).

Is this currently in use or has this been created as a per-curser to the alarm functionality?

As a Boolean, It would be very usefull to also be able to set a reminder period (As pointed out by a few other posts) , ie: x Hours prior to the event. (Perhaps instead of Boolean this field could be a Time or Int?, NULL being no alarm?)

Also, valuable alarm functionality would be the ability for the alarm to call developer defined functionality (Zimlets, or other?)

This would be great to allow us to have the alarm trigger something other than a popup window etc.

I dont suppose anyone can give a rough time estimate of when the alarm functionality will be looked at/incorporated? I realise it is already on the list, but am keen to know a rough time-frame so that I can look at developing myself if required.

Another idea would be to have something similar for email follow up alerts. Or perhaps just a method of placing an email message into the calender and thus allowing alarm functionality for followup.

Also, email rules would be handy, allowing rules to be setup to perform certain actions or call certain zimlets when a particular rule condition is met (EG: auto forward all emails from JOHN.SMITH@MYDOMAIN.COM to the SMS zimlet etc..). This would have great advantages over relying on the user to drag an item over to a zimlet etc.

I love your product, excellent work.
Greatly looking forward to seeing it grow even more.

Many thanks in advance

JeffT

Some of the plumbing is already there.

I've actually got a reminder Zimlet that will do the basic popup. It's only on the main (dev) branch today.

You can drag n drop a message onto the mini-calendar today to create a new appointment or a follow-up date. Once reminders get in you'll then get a notice of your wish. We are looking at reminders so hope to have it soon, just no set date yet.

Many thanks for the info and updates.

I'm having a little trouble locating the The main (dev) branch you mentioned the zimlets are on.

Is this: http://cvs.zimbra.com:8080/viewrep/zimbra_main/

I found com_zimbra_reminder here (1.1) I presume this is it?

I can find no links from your site though.

Many thanks in advance
