Default POP mail client authentication: Continuous prompting for password

I have several users who are using POP mail in Outlook 2003. They have saved the password in the profile and are able to authenticate to the server. However, they are continously prompted for their password, which is a real anoyance when I am called every 5 minutes. How do I get this to go away?

The interesting thing is that not all users are recieving this message that are configured the same.

Thanks in advance,
MindexAdmin

Hello,
Some of my users have the same problem but two or three times a week.
I'm running Zimbra 4.5.6 and users with issue are under MS Outlook 2003 (not Express)

Thank you for your help

Nic

This problem isn't limited to Zimbra. It's an Outlook issue which can happen connecting any POP3 server.

I've had the problem whilst connecting to Exchange and on another system connecting to the ISP's POP3 server.

If you google "outlook keeps prompting for password" you'll see a lot of people with the same problem. No consistency to the cause though and no definite simple fix.

Yes indeed, but my users reported this issue recently...and most of the google search results are 1+ year old. Though thanks for the input.

Have you tried creating a new profile and initial sync for any of these problem accounts?
