Question Line Spacing Issue

We're on day two of our Zimbra install and so far our users are enjoying it. We're running into what *must* be a simple problem but I can't find the solution in the wiki or searching the forums. I don't see an option in the admin panel or on the end user side.

When you are set to use html to compose your email messge, everything is double spaced. Some users have gone to text mode but then links don't work.

It's gotta be something we've overlooked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thx!

It's an issue with Internet Explorer. Firefox does not double space in HTML compose.

I posted about this same issue a week or so ago. Bug 3264 is open for this problem, but it is pretty old, not many people have voted for it, and I don't think much of anything is being done with it. According to the bug report this issue didn't exist in Zimbra 3.x versions.

or maybe the bug is with IE 7?

Coz, when I installed IE 7 in one of my window machines, several apps and games did not work actually....

Question

We're using IE6 here. I did try with Mac Firefox and indeed the spacing was correct. No machines here with IE7.

Related to this is hot links. In text mode with IE6 no hotlinks. In HTML mode yes, it will create a hot link if I type in Untitled Document. But, when I receive a message with a link - say the forum message from Zimbra, the link inside in not useable. Some imbeded links are Ok - that usually works, but this type does not show up as a hot link. I do have the option checked to view messages in HTML (when possible).

I also noticed while testing with Firefox, in HTML mode I can't create hot links.

I'm trying to keep all my users with the webclient and not having them go back to Outlook. If I can iron this type of stuff out that would be a big help.

Thx!

I voted for the bug some time ago. Apparently, it's not a big deal to most users (sans your and mine). Personally, I use FF2...but most of my installed base is on IE7.

A workaround is to hold the SHIFT key in while pressing the ENTER key. It doesn't double space when you do that.

Don't really know if it's a big deal for us either. Only a couple of users have mentioned it to me. I use FF2 as well, and since the client acts differently with FF2 and IE7 I thought it was worth posting about.

This might be an IE6 vs IE7 issue. I seem to remember a couple of users mentioning this before we upgraded everyone to IE7.

Hate to ask a question on top of your questions, but how were you able to create a hot link when composing a new message? Another user posted a month or so ago asking about this, and ended up creating RFE 17677. I voted for it because my users have asked about this as well. Am I just missing something obvious?

Default Related: iPhone drafts drop line spacing

Safari Lite on my iPhone drops line-spacing on drafts -- has to be re-inserted in edit before sending -- really a pain for large multi-paragraph texts.

Works OK tho -- retains the line-spacing -- on my Mac Full Safari & PC Windows 7. Dunno about iPad, Zimbra doesn't work too well generally, there.

This may be related to the other line-spacing issues here? Something about end-of-line / carriage-return characters, maybe?

Common problem in pine and other readers, also vi, usually there is a simple but hard-to-find setting involved.
