The enviroment was exactly the same as the starting author of this thread had, so I did not include my setup. The issue is solved for me however. A restart of Zimbra helped, after that...

With a fresh install i exactly have the same error message.

Error occurred: unknown document: BackupRequest
class=com.zimbra.soap.SoapFaultException
